Leadership

Michael Nouwens is the founder of Michael Nouwens Structural Consultants (1996) and has practiced consulting structural engineering in the Puget Sound area for 30 years.  Michael has extensive experience in the management and design of multi-family housing projects, retail and office buildings, banks and credit unions, and other commercial projects.  He has worked with several housing developers including Seattle, King County and Bremerton Housing Authorities, Bellwether Housing, Low Income Housing Institute and the Archdiocesan Housing Authority in addition to private market rate developers.


Michael has a thorough understanding of the budget constraints, design issues and building systems needed to assure successful projects.  He has been an active partner in the sustainable design of many projects and is accredited as a LEED® Green Associate.  His projects have achieved Enterprise Green Community Certification, King County Master Builder's Certification and Seattle City Light Built Smart Certification and have implemented the Evergreen Sustainable Design Standard and the LEED® Certification Process.


Construction documents are produced with Autodesk Revit Building Information Modeling and Autodesk Autocad Computer Aided Drafting.
